Rattlesnake Pendant - The Best Birthday Gift For Your Loved One

Snakes always crawl and hunt silently in a dark and humid environment. Rattlesnakes are are one of the exceptions, they often rattle their tails and make noises. So why does a rattlesnake's tail rattle? How does a rattlesnake's tail rattle? Let's find out.

The reason why the rattlesnake's tail can make a sound is because a row of hard shells grows on the tip of the rattlesnake's tail, like a whistle. This row of hollow hard shells is the horny ring, also called the ring. The ring is increased with the increase of the number of molts. After each molt, a tail segment will be added. Therefore, the number of rings will increase and the sound will become louder and louder.

The sounding principle of a ring ring is similar to that of a whistle, except that the outer shell of its tail is not metal, but a cavity formed by keratinized skin. The interior of the cavity is divided into two annular vacuoles by the horny membrane, like two air oscillators. When the rattlesnake shakes its tail, the cavitation is vibrated by the air, and an airflow is formed in the cavitation. As the airflow vibrates back and forth, the cavitation can make a sound.

Inspired by the rattlesnake's tail, we designed a pendant based on it.
